High praise from wood and robotics industry executives
Twenty five (25) industry executives and professionals from twelve (12) companies were invited to an open-house visit of Concept Caskets' complete production line.
The visit was organized by Mr. Tom Gagnon, Vice-President of Machineries AutomaTech, a Quebec-based company that is a leader in implementing robotics technology in both wood and steel-related manufacturing companies. |
To say that they were impressed would be an understatement
The purpose of the visit was to show the extent to which a company can re-engineer its whole production line to improve efficiency and reduce costs by implementing the right type of smart-robots, and all of that without loss of jobs.
"Concept Caskets is one of the most evolved companies in the world to use robotics in the manufacturing of wood products."
– Tom Gagnon, VP, AutomaTech (Canada)
"(Concept Caskets' robotics and automation) shows a (...) a high level of automation rarely seen in the wood industry,
even in Europe where it is slightly more advanced than in the Americas."
– Frank Zimmermann, Key Technology Manager, Woods, KUKA Robot Group (Germany)
The company's accomplishments in this area are so innovative that they are the focus of a mini-documentary movie produced by the Quebec Government's MDEIE.
Frank Houde, Concept Caskets' Vice-President Marketing and Sales, was quite proud of his company being singled out in this fashion, stating:
"There are companies 10 times bigger than us that don't yet have one robot; whereas we have 3 presently on our production line,
and a few more in the works."
